Not only are treats from Neptune's realm made, but the ice sculptures that shine at the buffet every year are also hand-carved by our chef.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40-day Lent in the Church, which is meant to remind us of the time Jesus spent praying in the desert. And at the same time, the carnival season ends. People are to be reminded again to concentrate on the essentials - and where better to do that than with a time-out at our STOCK resort?
With the beginning of Lent, people are called upon to practice renunciation and to moderate their lifestyle. As the consumption of raw meat used to be known as a renunciation ritual, the tradition of the herring feast, which is traditionally eaten on Ash Wednesday, developed out of this. Our kitchen crew, led by Jan Vostrovksy, has once again conjured up delicacies from river and sea. A wide variety of smoked fish, oysters and fish salads are on the buffet and leave nothing to be desired.
